Styling Idea # 201 Bench Seats with Tray Table

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

Cold days are supposed to be about sitting around and sipping tea. Not going to work and needing coffee. We have got it all wrong!

I love this simple little way to had personality.

  • I love that these bench seats have been left just far enough apart to add a small tea tray- so simple but excellent styling- not to mention functional to boot.
  • Note that this images uses a rug on the floor and on the wall- I’m a fan.
  • Mix patterns in the cushions and make sure there is enough to be comfortable.

Styling Idea # 200 Coke Signs

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

I watched one of my old favourite movies this weekend – Y Tu Mama Tambien. It is a fabulous adventure based in Mexico that showcases the raw realities of that country as growing teenage boys navigate their way into adulthood.  The hotels and living conditions of other countries never fails to surprise and inspire. But for all the romance of traveling across Mexico,  I will keep my hot water showers, fresh food and clean water and buy the Coke signs instead.

Styling Idea # 199 Green Chairs

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

What do you feel like for a Friday?

Somewhere you would want to sit and open a few beers?? I say YES! I also say that green chairs rock (so would yellow, red, pink or orange)

Colour can come in the most unexpected ways and chairs might just be my new favourite.

Happy weekend

Styling Idea # 198 Backlit Boockase in Bathroom

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

I’m doing this post from my office in Sydney and it is freezing outside! I left the house in the dark and rain and it is hardly light out (@7:30) – I would pay a lot of money to be whisked away somewhere where I could have a backlit book case in my bathroom! Are you kidding me! What an idea

  • Don’t limit this gorgeous idea to the bathroom- a bedroom, study or library would look spectucular also with this warm glow of light!
  • I love how they have placed indoor plants between the books to create a story amougest the books

Happy Thursday! Rug up if you are in windy cold Oz- what is the weather like elsewhere dear international readers?

Styling Idea # 197 Kitchen Trolley

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

I have always loved a kitchen island bench- but if you are renting or budget/space is limited a kitchen trolley is excellent for creating more working space and storage space.

  • If you do not have space to get all the way around your trolley place it up against the wall- and frame with some gorgeous artwork while your at it.
  • Keep the plates and pans on display on the shelves tidy and organised.
  • A wooden bench top, a stainless steal top or a marble top could be selected to fit into your scheme.
  • A stainless steel like this adds character to an older kitchen

Styling Idea # 195 Round Mirrors

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

What a wonderful weekend! Between markets and massages I was fortunate enough to see some theater and some football! Such a well balanced weekend.

The highlight was being treated to a special pasta feast. My girlfriend celebrated her birthday by turning the kitchen of their cosy home into an Italian pasta factory- complete with clothes horses covered in drying pasta- a full table covered in flour to make ravioli and pots of decent sauces bubbly away. The men wore aprons and the women wore scarves tied high up on their head! On the menu – ricotta and pear ravioli in sage butter and fettuccine with lamb ragout served with fresh mint and a watercress salad. I think Newtown has a new restaurant!

Following a trail that started with Italian Elle Decor I found some stunning round mirrors- the bottom image is at Orson and Blake and I want it NOW!

Styling Idea # 194 Grey Brown and White

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

It is cold and foggy and dark in Sydney this morning- such a winter’s day.

This colour palette looks more appealing inside than out.

  • If you ever want to warm up a room with soft browns and taupe’s use whites and wood to bring it life. I have just painted a room for a client and we do not have the furniture for it yet. The challenge will be managing their expectations before we add furniture – it will look a bit bland until we contrast and pop the colours!
