Styling Idea # 240 Milk Jars and Flowers

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

Being in Melbourne you are never too far from quirky ideas, cafes with style and personal touches. It is such a cliche but one I am happy to revel in and enjoy when I visit my favourite city. Enjoying breakfast in a cute little cafe yesterday I spotted this nifty idea – great for making one bunch of flowers look like so much more! I might do this one in the kitchen at home.

Have a great weekend and if you get out and about in the sunshine think about hunting down a milk jars and some flowers for your world!

Styling Idea # 239 Rustic Wooden Table

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

Authenticity is something we are learning and exploring in this course on coaching – being true to what and who you are. I know this is a large stretch for a post inspiration however it can be applied to design. “Asking” a room to be something it is not is never going to yield a true authentic space and the ultimate harmony.

I think the use of wood in its true rustic form and combining natural light in this space enhances the room and keeps the feeling real. LOVE

I’m shopping for rustic!

Styling Idea # 238 Magazine/book stacks as side table

Much to read….arhhh so much to read

Opps it seems yesterday’s post did not send until last night- sorry about that!

I’m off format today as I am in a coaching program/training day and need to be thinking coaching and not blogging.

Whilst I plough through readings and ponder the importance of social intelligence on the coaching engagement and whether the way we teach and train should be reviewed the world over you can look at pretty things! Inspired, of course by piles of books and lots of words!

Styling Idea # 237 Dressing Table Round Mirror

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

I’m flying to Melbourne today. Ordinarily that would be super exciting however I would love a couple more days in my house to feel a bit settled. Anyhow Melbourne is awesome and I’m taking my camera this time because we have started doing some night shooting in my photography course- might be a nice way to spend the sub-zero evenings in the gorgeous city.

I have a shopping list for my new room- storage and mirrors are both high on the must purchase!

Something like this would suit both requests.

Styling Idea # 234 Black Chair White Desk

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

I am taking a photography course as you may well know and seriously it is so inspiring. It would be such a luxury to walk around all day and wait for inspiration to strike however I am the kinda person who is always thinking…..”I wish I had my camera now!” when I don’t take it and when I take it out and about there is never anything to shoot!

Interior images never fail to inspire me for the ability to capture light and mood!

Few do it better than the photographers favored by Emma on Emma’s Blog…always fresh and always capturing the sunlight effortlessly like the human eyes does naturally.

  • I must say I really was taken with this simple idea- clean white desk- heavy masculine leather chair. Brilliant!
  • Add feminine lamp for clash of bakelite lamp for retro cool.
  • Contrast the simple black and white palette by placing this over a Persian rug and style with an indoor plant potted from the floor.

Styling Idea # 234 Bougainvillea meets Peach and Blue

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

A recent image on The Sartorialist prompted this colour combination- take inspiration from Bougainvillea! Lovely

  • Take inspiration from crisp clear blue skies (oh where you have you gone??) and use sky blue in sheets, linen and lamps
  • Add inspiration from earthy palettes of peach and sand with fabric upholstery, piping on cushions, blonde woods, light floorboards
  • Add the bougainvillea purple from the source itself (nature does this colour best!!)
  • Remember blue and purple on their own are…sweet- what really brings this to life is the injection of the peach

Styling Idea # 233 Coffee and Cream

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

Forgive me readers for I have sinned! Not really, but I did miss two days of posting last week. For the first time in almost a year. I just really really needed a break and refreshing feeling of rebelling and not doing something you are supposed to do. Although, no one left any messages so perhaps I got away with it.

Well, the good news is I am back and I have had an amazing weekend shopping for my new apartment so I approach this with new rigor. I did realize something thing weekend (which will not surprise you)…I really really love interiors. It is exhausting and overwhelming sometimes looking and buying and pondering and dealing with buyers remorse however there is nothing more entertaining to think about. Ever.

I would love to make some some changes to layout of the blog and invest more into it so if you are enjoying reading please let me know so I know I have some readers out there who will support me- feel free to pass the link on to others or join me on twitter. Like I have said before it is a bit lonely posting to the blogosphere so I hope you do enjoy reading!

TRANSLATION: TRY THIS AT HOME

  • Take inspiration from this divine Oly San Francisco- Dakota from Coco Republic and go for gloss and shine and matt and rich all in one.
  • Look for butter based creams with mustard tones and mix with chocolate hues
  • If you cannot afford a statement sofa like (arrhh- NO) think about creating this styling idea by peeling away all of the other colours and leaving only layers of these tones- any pops of colour here will stand out. That is ok but just be aware of the change of mood.

Styling Idea # 232 Simple Colour Palette

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

Sometimes I yearn for simple colours and clean lines. Patterns and prints add personality and colours is generally evidence of a life but really if I lived in a hotel style space that was pristine and clean and simple in its approach I would also be pretty happy.

This image really caught my eye and had me swooning.
