Styling Idea #423 Long Centre Pillow

Being obssessed with bedrooms as I am I am constantly seeking new styleS for pillows and cushions. I’m loving the long skinny centre pillow. Make it different to everything else on the bed so it stands on it’s own. Or work it back to the prints behind…it’s easy and very effective.

Styling Idea # 421 Black, White and Cream

Timeless design and brands have tapped into elegant simplicity. It should be goal for any design or concept. The mainstays will always be a neutral colour palette. Don’t forget that whilst black and white is chic black, white and cream will always be incredible!

Styling Idea # 420 Cane Settee

Somedays you are up and others you are stuck. It kinda feels like a physical stickiness – a heaviness that you can only just keep moving. In the land of business and launching a dream it is on these days that you MUST keep swimming.

Yesterday was a stuck day but I put on my fancy pants, my favourite lipgloss, a new harid-do and went out and got myself a job. Keep on moving. Keep on dancing. And, please keep on designing your space and creating your home… will always make you smile.

Styling Idea # 419 Black and White Curtains

Sorry for lateness people. Had a terrible night sleep coupled with early morning meeting- if i had slept better I wonder if I would have dreamed up these curtains? What do you think of the frilly bit at the top? Overall I love the leather and B&W combo- of course! Hope your Tuesday is going well!

Styling Idea # 418 Arch Windows

I spent the weekend enjoying one of the most stunning holiday homes at Mt Martha I have ever stayed in. This is a big statement but it is totally true. Here are my tips for what worked:

Cream, white and wood interior, lots of mirrors and natural light, simple palette accessories (in this case it was soft aqua, silver and white, not one item outside the palette), exceptional quality everything (carpet to sleep on, couches to live on, tables to dream about) timeless pieces and a little Noosa styling. I know that Noosa has it’s fans and “not-so fans” however when you are on holiday these cheeky beach references are all the more endearing. Here is the link – however keep in mind these things always look better in real life.

So, my favourite thing in this house was the windows! The view came in second after the scale and size of these stunning windows. Straight with black frames are of course all the rage however I still like an old fashion arch. It can adapt to different styles…..take your pick.

Styling Idea # 417 Leather Cushions

I am longing for some leather cushions in my life! Leather these days is baby-skin soft and the texture and colour of leather is to die for! I love that these are flat too!

Styling Idea # 416 Midnight Blue

I know we live in a black and white obsessed world. It always works and it will always work (nice to know there are some stables in the land of design) however I am currently dreaming about deep midnight blue. You see, it was recently hard rubbish week around Melbourne (meaning everything you want to throw out that is larger than your council bins get placed on the foot path). The free for all mentality was hilarious – people collecting tables, chairs, wood, boxes whatever. Everything I saw needed some love and I kept wanting to repaint old furniture a deep lacquered navy. Softer than black, more chic than brights, timeless and stunning.

My tips are keep it really dark, off set with white, wood, mustard, oranges or lilac. If you are planning on painting furniture consider a lacquer to give the colour another dimension- reflection!

Styling Idea # 415 Low Book Shelf, Large Print

I absolutely adore playing around with proportions. Sometimes things should be symmetrical and play to the rules. Other times you should press the shrink button and grow button at the same time and see what the result is. In this case the the bookshelf has shrunk down low and the artwork takes up the space. What a stunning composition.

Where in your home are you playing it safe with proportion? What would happen if you dared to freshen up the space with proportions?

PS- take note of the gorgeous light flooding the space from bottom right….lower your light source people. Lower your lights!

Styling Idea # 414 Leather and Gold Bedroom

With all the white and neutral bedrooms that are around at the moment I am being a bit brainwashed. After a while they all start to look the same. Clean lines, white linen, no personality in some cases. I am still attracted to darker colours in a bedroom at time. I think in my real house I may have to have three master bedrooms – just so I can have a few styles to pick when I go to lay my head down. Clean for peaceful and meditation, brights for summer and breakfast in bed, dark and moody for late night reading and a glass of port! What is your favourite bedroom style??
