Sometimes being a bit rustic and haphazard is a good thing in styling.

My tips for getting this right include understanding that placement is key. Layered or in the white space you still need to think about your composition.
Keep the same colour tape for the wall- two colours would be messy.
Make the pieces of tape around about the same size. Don’t measure but be considered.
Cheap and cheerful mexican (El loco – Surry Hills. Yes, you should)
Cocktails at the regular (Pocket bar. Yes, you should)
And treating myself to the ultimate Christmas present treatment at Jo Malone.
It is fair to say on reading this list that I ate a lot, drank a lot and have reasons for sore feet (dancing to 3am anyone?). What is kinda crazy is that I enjoyed the luxury of a Jo Malone fragrance consultation (with champagne included- as if there was not enough alcohol already?) as much as the cold sausage sandwich in the late hours of Australia Day. Happy with luxury and happy with the little things I say!
Yesterday was Australia Day if you live down under. For those of you reading elsewhere you may have been wondering why I didn’t post and if Australia Day is enough of a holiday for me a skip a post? Well, yes! I totally adore Australia Day – more than any other day of celebrations. Music, BBQ’s, friends, dancing and beer. It is really is just a day to hang with peeps you love and talk about great music. What a way to feel patriotic.
I love being Australian, except for days when I wish I was French. Like today!!
Well, this has never happened. I am not usually sitting down to post a 5:30pm…..too bad my Mac didn’t want to wake up this morning! It is raining in Sydney (again) but I am too excited about Australia Day and my dinner tonight to care!
Dinner tonight…
Oscillate Wildly- 8 course degustation and wine matching! YUM
Tomorrow: Australia Day
Triple J Hottest 100 Countdown…Goyte, Black Keys, Matt Corby, Florence, James Blake, Architecture in Helsinki, Radiohead, Boy and Bear, Bon Iver, San Cisco, Foster the People, Lanie Lane…it’s all too hard.
I am loving The Rubens right now…..listen. On repeat.
Ok…for some yummy eye candy for the stylish people…Source Design Attractor I would look at working this in easily with a mixture of grey woolen cushions and leather cushions…scatter on neutral lounge or white bedding. So masculine and sexy!
I am over feature walls. And yet there is still a place for them. I would argue that they are allowed in the following spaces 1) small areas like bathrooms for impact 2) following on from this theme I would add alcoves to create dimension 3) in the wall that is the source of light.
Here the wall is broken up and the colour is still able to create a dramatic pop for the bright primary colours in the space. Of course super cool furniture, lighting, artwork and flora also helps!
Oh my! What a delicious idea and why on earth is this not done more often? Windows (complete with window panes and window sills) inside. Please please please???

I would love this idea from kitchen to sunroom, or like here from dining to living.
Think about this for internal hallways.
It would be amazing in a main bedroom to separate a bathroom or powder room.
Have I told you I am moving? Perhaps not, and I am sure you will hear plenty about it in the comings weeks! Look out Melbourne I am coming home- yeah.
The reason that this is relevant is my flat mate is looking at taking over the room I now have and she will need some storage (attic style bedroom without wardrobe = tricky). I have managed to create a dressing area complete with exposed clothes rack. Do you think you could live with your clothes on display like this?? It is an excellent way to use the space- maybe some soft draped fabric could hide the clothes?
