Styling Idea # 433 Black Tall Boy

 INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

OK, I promise I attempted to post yesterday- the wordpress site was playing up. I promise.

Anyway…I’m loving the bold use of colour on this tall boy. It’s part country, part scandi, part modern, part classic. Go for different paint finishes to suit your look. High gloss for modern glamour, rustic matt with some buffed edges for a worn look. Combine with crisp white furniture for immediate Scandinavian kudos or a simple water jug with lavendar for a completely different look.

Oh…did I mention that is excellent storage to boot! Favourite furniture piece award!

Styling Idea # 432 Arch Lead Light Windows

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

Good morning everyone! I’m back!

I decided that I needed a break from daily blog land, so I took two weeks off to refresh my mind. Out of a four year goal of blogging that ain’t so bad. The one thing I found by not posting, not reading, not collating images and not even pinning was that I absolutely love what I do and really cannot live without daily visual stimulation.

So much has been happening here since I wrote. But it is hard to pull out one story to be inspired by. I am just going to get started with a jaw dropping stunning room. Arch windows are really so impressive.

If you are anywhere near Melbourne at the moment stay warm today. I will be in a furniture warehouse hogging the little blow heater and sipping on a thermos.

Styling Idea # 431 Basket beside the bed…..

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

If you are looking for new ways to add colour with cushions in your bedroom but cannot handle too many on the bed invest in an open weave basket for stacking. Handy even if you want to pop them here at the end of the day! I like it.

Styling Idea # 430 Mosaic Shower

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

I’m so sorry! Somehow I managed to not press publish on my post yesterday.

I was out and about styling properties! We did a lovely installation in a three bedroom + study, kitchen and dining. I was really happy with the results. Property styling is so satisfying as empty spaces take shape and you can create a character for each room to play. Unfortunately you see less and less personality in bathrooms. I know that we want bathrooms that don’t date and spaces that are clean and fresh but it would be nice to see someone have a little bit of spark in their approach.

What do you think of something like this?? I think the pattern is a little dated but I love the idea of stepping into  an oasis of softer prints and subtle motifs. I would include a long bench seat in the shower for your bits and pieces and so you can sit back and let the water run over you…..include meditation tape and candles. Bliss.

Styling Idea # 427 Bath Bench

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

Oh, sweet Friday! Such a promise of long days and keeping warm in lazy ways. If you don’t already have a bath bench make sure you grab one before it gets really chilly. Books, magazines, tea, candles and lotions all need a home nearby. Leave the mobile phone on silent and enjoy some piece and quiet.

If you don’t have a bath- move.

Styling Idea # 426 Rustic Stairs

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

Wonder where stairs like this lead?? Love a highly polished floor in large areas but if you just get a small chance to play with wood- why not make it rustic? What do you think?

Styling Idea # 425 Gallery Entrance

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

I have looked at ways artwork can be used to create an entrance before. Styling Idea # 210 was all about elaborate pictures and mirrors in a entrance and # 161 was artwork on the floor (in a way that a busy working artist would display- stacked and un-styled).

This image is how I would prefer it look. The over the top mirrors and prints would blow my mind, but not calm it as I enter my home. The stacked artwork would inspire me to be a more creative person, when I really need to be a more disciplined person. See where I am going here?

I simply adore photography!!! Love, love, love with a capital L and cannot wait to have a entrance of similar structure to display with love. The base is low so the prints are large! Have fun!

Styling Idea # 424 A Desk & Two Chairs

INSPIRATION FOR THIS POST

Working at home means I am always looking for ways that I can make a home office look different, exciting or modern. Not that I can change it everyday but I love seeing ideas that are simple to implement. I am keen to use my Ercol Chairs as a dining table setting but if at first I cannot I would love a long skinny desk and a second a chair. Not that anyone would be using it but it looks good! (meanwhile I am always hoping for a business partner so if you want to pull up a chair let me know!)

Look out for cheap dining chairs or stools- 2 is less expensive than a full set at times and you can display them along a skinny desk with pride!
